Originally hailing from Baton Rouge, Louisiana this buxom beauty now calls the pacific northwest her home. Brought up in a thespian household with musical actor father and director mother Bettie is no stranger to the stage. She has been singing, dancing and acting since she was 5 years old. Introduced to the melodramatic theater by her father she fell in love with the olio girls i.e. saloon cancan dancers and spent two summers as an olio in her teen years. While studying at University she was privileged to be introduced to vaudeville via a performance troupe named Terpsichores Daughters. Later she would join them as a Red Raven Follie and spend 3 glorious years working the hootchie coo tent. The pursuit of love and glamour sent her up the Willamette to the Columbia Gorge where she has been tantalizing patrons of many fine establishments for 2 years.   The weekend began with an under the sea themed Bachelor Party at the Long Beach Elks’ Lodge. Vincent Drambuie hosted a night of burlesque with the Rose City Shimmy, the Infamous Nina Night Shade and Lucy O’Rebel. Along with the top notch burlesque Eastside Speed Machine kept peoples toes a tapping with two sets of traditional rock n roll. We had a successful raffle in part to Mezco Toys who made a generous donation of Living Dad Dolls and priceless publicity!

Saturday was one of those rare and perfect summer days on the PNW coast with temps peaking at 90 plus. Some really beautiful cars made a showing this year from as far as Salem, Seattle and Portland. 12 Beautiful women and a sea monster of questionable gender made a showing to vie for the title of Bride of Jake. In keeping with the under the sea theme the contestants went all out with creativity and talent. From an adorable burlesque bathing beauty number, exotic sea themed burlesque, poetry, love songs and other delightful talents each and every contestant really shined and made the judges jobs extremely hard but in the end it was a pirate with a set of pipes to be reckoned with Sara Queen Pirate who reminded us all what we were here for with a sultry rendition of Happy Birthday to Jake. Brides Maid of Jake went to Caitlin the Lobster Girl she summoned up a crew of gaters with her siren call to Jake coupled with a big set of sexy glittery lobster claws it was more then Jake could take. This year a new category was created out of the generosity of the Rock it Roost and Desmona Lively Photography with such a substantial donation that was awarded to the Peoples Choice winner Octobride Michelle Lucero. The Bride of Jake contest is sponsored by Lucky Cupcake and hosted by Delvis.

Rusty Bolts horror host of the Shiver Show was the emcee for the rest of the days events. Other Shiver Show creatures were on hand to celebrate as well, Swampy Carl who entered Bride of Jake but sadly didn’t have what it took, Fly Girl made an appearance and the shiver show entertained us all with some games for the kids like pin the scale on Jake and for the grown folks it was a panty toss to see if you could ring Jake’s head. The musical lineup was fantastic, we were told by numerous people and business owners there were people enjoying the music and dancing all over town, but who couldn’t with a line up like this:
Back Alley Barbers, The Surf Weasels, The Graceland Five, Honky Tonk Union, Wave Sauce and Drag Strip Riot
There was also an appearance by Nina Al Tawhill the beautiful belly dancer with her band charming little belly dancers in training.

The Laser Trolls, beards Hollow Pirates complete with pirate ship, the Bride of Jake Contestants and the Long Beach Police escorted an enormous cake and dozens of cupcakes down Main Street to Marsh’s Free Museum home of Jake dispersing free cake to anyone who wanted it. Did I mention we have the best event t-shirt design around?! Vintage Roadside did it again; if you make it to the event you better get there early because the shirts go fast!

Cars! This years Jakes Choice went to Hatchet Mike Roberts 1965 Cadillac “Chop” De Ville. With a 4″ chop, widened 3″ and 4″ longer to fit stock Pilar placement. Split Windshield, hand rubbed large flaked glitter into krylon clear coat roof. Shaved trim w door handles and poppers. Scalloped two-tone rattle canned paint with black striping cleared with 2k bomb cans, 2″ custom lake pipes. Etched spider webs in rear glass and bumper, claw spiked trim and hubcaps, Crystal clear 5 3/4″ h4 headlights w yellow bulbs n green driving lights. Custom Chop De Ville emblems from Skullclown, exhaust by CJ’s custom muffler, custom hounds tooth interior w 100$ bills floor mats, diamond plate kick panels and Hatchet keg cup holders. Other details include a myriad of Jake accessories from a Jake head hood ornament to the Jake head turn signal, dash plaque, and lucky Jake’s foot key chain. An enormous amount of detail went into this car it is a showstopper.

The Peoples Choice Award went to Travis Diebolt (Deviants Car Club Support Member) with his 1952 Chevy Sedan Delivery. Travis inherited the car from his father after he lost his 10-year battle with cancer.
Travis’s father Seaside Or. City Councilman Gary Diebolt was the coordinator of the Seaside Wheels and Waves Street Rod event and Muscle Beach Cruz Muscle Car event. Gary was clearly a huge supporter of car show events and classic cars and we feel honored to have his car as one of our award winners.
Gary Diebolt purchased the car from Butch Stark, soon after he had a 350 small block put under the hood. John Harmon and Jim Doty had a hand in much of the restoration for Gary and a good deal was done by the previous owner.

– Rear axle 77 Chevy Nova, custom rear springs, custom built steering column by Mr. GM Column Terry Sulvik. The festivities wrapped up with a final set from the Back Alley Barbers as cool breezes off the ocean drew folks to the beach for a bonfire weenie roast.
